Quitting Time

I can’t be the only one who still dreams of running away
Leaving behind the schedule and forgetting the GPS
To find out what it is like outside of the walls of 9-5
This world of expectation and social understanding
Of what you are supposed to do and just be
If the currency were laughs and hugs I could travel the world
Kindness would be my banner and happiness my luggage
So many experiences I miss with every second in this chair
Every pay period is another step towards the grave
Instead of falling deep into madness and emerging on the other side of Wonderland
Wanting more can’t be wrong
Feeling mentally dehydrated
Knowing there is nourishment right outside of that door
On the other side of courage

Where safety no longer holds you back from dreaming
