Mates: The Single Woman Blogging Challenge Day 8

Five things that are most important to you in a future mate.

I want to start out with a man who loves God. That’s the foundation for everything. There is nothing without God as the center of his life. It is so implicit in my requirements that I don’t want to put it on the list. Let’s all assume he loves Jesus more than he could ever love me.

1. Intellect

I love a smart man. I am pretty quick witted and think at about a mile a minute so when you find someone who can not only keep up but challenge you it instantly gets my attention. It doesn’t have to be book smarts (although extra points there) but I find that if he has a wealth of experience or knowledge in something I don’t know about it makes him more interesting.

2. Sense of Humor

I always put this right after intellect because being smart isn’t everything. If you sound like the Clear Eyes guy when we talk and are a proverbial stick in the mud we will not get along well. I LOVE to laugh and making jokes is just part of who I am. Even if my future mate doesn’t laugh at my amazingly funny jokes (I might doubt his sense of humor) he should know that they will happen at every turn. Maybe I can wear him down in my corny joke ways.

3. Integrity

I need a mate whose word means something. He needs to put his whole self behind his promises and doesn’t flake out or disappear at the first sign of trouble. I want to be able to trust in him. I want someone I can believe when he ways in sickness or in heath, for richer or for poorer, til death does us part.

4. Creative

I love all of my creative outlets and even if the his outlet is video games (I’m totally down for that) I want him to be able to let off stream, stress, or just have free time with something that makes him happy. This is where his possible loves of singing, playing, acting, dancing, juggling, cooking (please God!) or anything else would come into play.

5. Love of People

This is not a love of being around people or that he needs to be an extrovert but someone who loves people. This was the hardest to figure out in my list because it encompasses so much. I want to feel free to connect with other citizens of the world and so should he. We will be a team that not just shows the love of God from a distance but invite others to come closer and experience Him through us.
