Belle- The Single Woman’s 30 Day Blogging Challenge Day 22

What fictional character in a movie, tv show, or book do you identify with and why?

I don’t know why we don’t have more characters who love to read but that’s what struck me about Belle from Beauty and the Beast. She is literally walking and reading in the first few minutes of the movie and I knew she got me. As I’m sure you know by now my first love was reading. It is the perfect escape; you are aided by writers to another time, dimension, continent, or culture and your imagination then runs wild. I couldn’t get enough of this girl who thought for herself!

Then there was her attracting a guy who would be great for anyone else….just not her. I have waaaaaaaaayyy too much experience in this. There are well meaning people who introduce me to well meaning guys but I have acknowledged and accepted that there is an unsualness (yes I made up this word but I like it) about me and I don’t want to hide it. I don’t mind being different–at least not anymore. I really like not trying to fit into any boxes anymore (including the ones I made for myself) and letting my idiosyncrasies be part of my highlight reel instead of B-reel or even edited out. She tells Gaston no when every other girl would have said yes. He doesn’t take it well (hence the whole kill the Beast thing) but she never backs down.

She loves to eat! Did you see Belle get her grub on during ‘Be Our Guest’?

Of course there was the moment that sealed her feelings for Beast was when he presented his library to her. The way to a woman’s heart is through her literary figures!! I would pass out with excitement at the presentation of a room filled with books. Oh the smell of a library (let me stop before this gets too weird) *Also prays that future hubby wants a library in the house*

So yes, I love Belle who made me proud to be a most peculiar mademoiselle.
